Our Process
Design & Planning for Wastewater Systems
The first step to meeting B.C. Sewerage System Regulations is a thorough site assessment and understanding of your specific needs. Get your questions answered.
Gone are the days where sketching designs on a paper napkin in a coffee shop and submitted it to your local Health Authority or Government Agency. Today, provincial regulations require detailed information and compliance with specific standards before any design can be registered with your local Health Authority.
We guide you through every step to ensure your wastewater system design meets all regulatory requirements.

Our Wastewater System Design & Installation Process
Step 1
Initial Consultation
We start with a meeting to understand your vision for the property, including building plans and landscaping. We discuss details like house size, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and usage patterns—whether it’s full-time living or seasonal use like a cottage. Other factors that might affect the system design are also considered.
Step 2
Determine Daily Design Flow (DDF)
We calculate the Daily Design Flow (DDF) based on occupancy - the number of people using the house/facility, the number of bedrooms, the type of components in the house/facility the square footage — and in line with regulatory requirements.
Step 3
Technical Site Assessment
Our Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner (ROWP) visits your site to analyze soil conditions and evaluate how well the soil can handle treated wastewater for long-term dispersal. Remember, the long term use is the key!
Step 4
System Design
We create a customized wastewater system design that meets B.C. government codes and regulations, tailored to your property’s needs, environment, health and safety considerations, and budget.
Step 5
Review & Quote
We review the design with you, provide a detailed project quote, and explain the installation process.
Step 6
Permit Registration
We handle all paperwork and submit the design to the local health authority for registration.
Step 7
Installation Supervision
Our team oversees the installation to ensure it meets all regulatory and design standards.
Step 8
System Testing & Handover
After installation, we test the system to confirm it’s working properly. Our Designer then registers a copy of the installed system with the Health Authority. You’ll then receive an Operation & Maintenance Manual, including system drawings, and a maintenance plan.
Navigating the Wastewater System Process Together
As you can see there is a defined and regulated process that needs to be followed to move forward. As a Registered Onsite Wastewater Practitioner (ROWP) we have the experience and expertise to design and install and maintain your residential wastewater system.
